The Delphos Parks "Adopt a Tree Program"
Any individual, organization or business can make the
tree adoption for himself or herself or in the
remembrance of a loved one. This is a unique opportunity
for anyone within our community to help beautify the
Delphos Parks System.
The
choice, for the location of the tree, will be selected
from the City of Delphos Parks Location List created by
the nursery and Parks Superintendent. The choices will
be next to ball diamonds, football fields, shelter
houses, playground equipment, swimming pool, entrances
to parks or any other location deemed necessary for
shade or beautification. The Parks Department is
responsible for the maintenance of all landscaping
within the City Parks.
The trees will be acquired using an alternating purchase
method of the two Delphos Nurseries, unless otherwise
specifically requested by the donor.
The donor must complete the form "Adopt a Tree Program"
requesting the location of the tree within Stadium,
Garfield, Waterworks or Leisure Parks or Westside
Cemetery, name and address of designate and donor, name
of nursery (if different than alternating purchase
rotation). The Parks Superintendent must receive a
check, in the nursery name, for the cost of the tree
including planting prior to the ordering of the tree.
The cost will be determined by the size and type of
tree.
The Parks Superintendent will record a list of the name
of the designate, donor’s name, addresses, date recorded
and location of tree. A thank you letter will be sent
out in the mayor’s name to the designate, notifying of
the donation of a tree in their name. A letter will also
be sent to the donor, thanking them for the donation of
a tree to our parks. Both letters will be mailed within
thirty days of the donation. A thank you list will be
printed in the Delphos Herald at the end of each year,
on behalf of the City of Delphos’s Adopt a Tree Program.
