Property Maintenance Code
New Property Maintenance Code was introduced to city council by the Legislative Committee. Legislative Committee Chairman Wiltsie summarized the changes. In 2018 they were asked by Mayor Gillespie to conduct a review of the current property code legislation. The codes that enforced property maintenance were located throughout many sections of the current Codified Ordinance book. Each violation had a different fee and fine schedule. They reviewed other municipalities’ property maintenance codes and created new Chapter 1700. The primary goal was to consolidate the codes and amend the fines and fees and costs and make them up to date in order to cover city costs. The vast majority of the codes are already on the books. The legislative committee has created a more common sense property maintenance legislation for both commercial and residential properties. To see the full ordinance, click HERE.
